Johnny Atkins 84 of Farmerville, LA departed this life on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Farmerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Farmerville, LA. Johnny Lee Atkins was born on December 7, 1932 to the late Theo Atkins, Sr. and Florence Dumas Atkins in Spearsville, LA. He was the third of five children born of this union. Johnny Lee received his education in the Spearsville community school district. He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, as generations of his family had done before him. As a young man Johnny set out from home to visit and see other parts of the country we live in. He made Chicago his home for a period of time. After that, he traveled to Detroit. He liked Detroit so well he made his home there for another period of time. Then after traveling and visiting other locations briefly, he made his way to New Orleans, LA where he lived until Hurricane Katrina relocated him to Baton Rouge. LA., where his sister Loisteen lived. After Loisteen’s death, her daughter, Sheila and all of that big Archie family surrounded him with much love, care and affection. Johnny traveled back to Union Parish early last year (2016) after his health took a deep decline. In Farmerville, led by his “big” sister Emma Jean and “little” sister Marie he was again in the center of a big loving family and many friends until he was called to glory and made that last trip on June 13, 2017.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents: Theo and Florence Atkins. His sisters: Robbie Charles, Loisteen Archie and Mary Sweets. His brothers: Theo Atkins Jr., George Robert Atkins, Felton Ray Atkins, Robert Lee Atkins and F.G. Atkins.
