Mattie Gilliam Obituary

Sister Mattie  Lee Ingram Gilliam was born on May 14, 1941 to the late Alberta Shaw Ingram and the late Terry Ingram in Hamburg, AR.

Sis. Mattie joined  Philip Grove M.B.C at a very young age. She was a choir member and a prayer band leader. She loved Christmas and Thanksgiving, she enjoyed cooking and feeding the entire community. Most of all she really adored her grandchildren visiting her. 

Later in life Sis. Mattie met and married John Henry Gilliam. That union lasted 66 years. Nine children were born to this union, with one preceding  her in death; Sergeant Williams Frank Gilliam. She also was preceded in death by her  husband John Henry Gilliam, her parents: Alberta Shaw Ingram and Terry Ingram; three siblings: Horace Ingram, Sr., Winston Shaw, Louise Jacobs and numerous loved ones.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Eight children: John Gilliam, Jr., Sherry Franklin,  Danny Gilliam, Ykita Jenkins (Harvey), and Cotina Shelton (Daniel) all of Hamburg, Terry Gilliam (Janis), Sharon Green, and Jason Gilliam all of Crossett, AR.  One sister : Leola Gilliam (Bootsie) of Hamburg, AR; two brothers Moses Ingram of Hamburg, AR and Willie Shaw of Carthage, AR. She raised one grandson: Pastor Taci Gilliam and one granddaughter: Lakandra Haynes. Sister Mattie was blessed with 3 generations of grands; 23 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren, also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.

.Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday July 13, 2022 at the Phillip Grove M.B.C in Hamburg, AR. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 11-5 at the chapel of Mitchell Memorial. 

Burial will follow in the Phillip Grove Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
