Lester departed this life on May 18, 2024 at the Heather Manor Nursing Home in Hope, AR.
He was proceeded in death by his parents: Lester McGathy, Sr. and Melva Choate his grandparents: John Hand Lura Ross McGathy; one daughter: Mary McGathy Linzy and one brother: James McGathy, Sr
Lester is survived by his wife of 50 years LouEtta Freeman McGathy; stepmom: Annie Henson McGathy; 6 sisters: Lucinda(David) Penick of Monticello, AR, Leslie (James) Harrington of Prescott, AR; Linda (Clyde) Yates of Malvern, AR, Tracie (David) Gill of Prescott, AR, Audrey (Roy) Sims of Oregon and Peggy McGathy of Nebraska; 3 Brothers: Aubrey McGathy Jr of Iowa, Gary (Kelly) McGathy of Haven, Kansas and Kenneth (Kelly) McGathy of Orange City, FL; 3 sisters-in-law: Barbara McGathy of Searcy, AR, Linda Parks of Caddo Valley, AR and Mary Heier of Arkadelphia, AR. Lester will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Lester served in the U.S. NAVY from 1972-to 1973.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Faith Pentecostal Church of God in McGehee, AR.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 1 until service time at the church
Burial will follow in the Scott Cemetery in Winchester, AR under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
