Joyce Marie Woods

Joyce Marie Woods, 60, affectionately known as “Pam,” went home to be with the Lord on November 12, 2021. She was a native of Montrose, AR, but a resident of Portland, AR for several years. Joyce was a lifelong member of Brown Temple Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in the choir. She was also an original member of the Supreme Voices Gospel Choir and a Badge Officer for the #4 Singing Union. 

Joyce was a proud graduate of Lakeside High School Class of 1979. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Joyce had an innate love for children. As a result, her career included over 20 years of service with Lakeside School District and a number of years at C. B. King Memorial School.
Joyce was known for being a devoted daughter, loving sister, doting aunt, caring cousin and a loyal friend. Keeping in contact with her family and friends was a daily mission that she never failed to complete. Joyce also enjoyed cooking, watching TV, playing cards, shopping and cheering for her favorite sports teams. Her other hobbies included anything that would allow her to tag along with her big sisters, Vern and Neacy.
Joyce was preceded in death by her father William C. Woods Sr., paternal grandparents: George and Maybell Woods, maternal grandmother: Armetta Washington, and sister-in-law: Ella Woods.
The memory of Joyce M. Woods will be cherished by her mother, Mrs. Geneva Woods; siblings: Emma Woods, Vernestine Holmes (Ray), Larry Woods Sr. (all of Montrose, AR), Arletha Jordan (of Crossett, AR), William Woods Jr. (of Lake Village, AR), Vanessa Hoffman (of Portland, AR), and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at the Central Community Baptist Church in Lake Village, AR.

Walkthrough visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the chapel of Mitchell Memorial.

Burial will follow in the Montrose Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service
