Jimmy Jennings Obituary

Jimmy Dewayne Jennings was born February 11, 1967, to Mamie Carol Jennings in Huttig (Batts Chapel), Arkansas.

Jimmy united with First Baptist Church Huttig, AR at an early age. Under the leadership of Rev. O.J. Jackson. He later united with First Baptist Church Felsenthal under the leadership of Rev. Robert Thompson where he remained faithful until death. He dearly loved his church and working in the church.

He attended Strong Public Schools. Jimmy was very smart and excelled in school. He graduated in 1984 with his beloved classmates. After high school, he joined the Army and served for eight years. Jimmy later pursued his education at South Arkansas Community College where he earned six degrees. He enjoyed going to school and was dedicated to completing his goals.

Jimmy worked in various capacities, but his greatest love was truck driving. He went into business for himself establishing Jennings Trucking a legacy to be carried on by his sons. He was employed by the Sawmill in Huttig, Cooper-Standard Automotive, Clean Harbors, and Georgia Pacific in Crossett to name a few. No matter where he worked, he went to work clean and would leave clean.

During his early years, he earned the names “Magic”, J-Rock, J-Mack, & Jimmy-Jimmy. He did not meet any strangers, he was a people person. Jimmy was a joy to be around. If you knew him, you knew he loved people. He loved to cook & cater, launching Mr. Magic’s Barbeque. He was well known for his cabbages on the grill.

Indeed, Jimmy was a family man. He loved his family and he loved spending time with his family. Jimmy would drive anywhere to get his seasonings, his favorite foods, and candles. Jimmy is proceeded in death by his grandparents Jordan and Ollie Jennings, Monroe and Ellen Furlough.

A gentle wind blew on the early morning of June 1, 2022. The mighty hand of God saw he was tired and lifted him up. He said servant well done come home and rest.

Jimmy leaves his love with his devoted wife: Chenell Sims-Jennings of Huttig, AR; Six sons: Antwan Dismuke (Brittany),Angelo(Jasmine) Jennings, Kiara Jennings, Keoun (Kiana) Jennings & Valentino (Jasmine) Jennings all of El Dorado, AR, and Ki’Jana(Brittany) Jennings of Conway, AR; His mother: Mamie Rowland of Huttig, AR; His God Parents: Craig and Nella Claiborne; God-Son: JiQuintas. Fifteen grandchildren who were his world, Briana Jamerson God granddaughter whom he dearly loved. Two brothers: Patrick(Kendra) Foreman & Christopher Sims; Four sisters: Cadace Ricks & Shannon (Roy) Rogers both of Huttig, AR, Veyon (Michael)Rowland-Smit; Charnise Rowland both of Chicago, IL; Three Godbrothers: Willie Frank (Mashall)McHenry & James (Nadine) Elliot both of Huttig, AR, Ralph (Marion)Evans of Urbana, AR. Special uncle Bobby Furlough. 

Jimmy was well-loved by his extended family his mothers-in-law Carolyn Norman & Aventine Adams. Sisters-in-law Jamie (Reggie) Peters, & Marquita Scruggs. His brothers-in-laws Ronnie (Shelia) Jordan &; Grant Adams. His nieces whom he loved are Bianca, Kyla, Nadia, Victoria, Quintaya, Mykel &a; Ariel. He leaves a host of other nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins to hold his memories.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Huttig, AR.

Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 4: 00 PM until 6:00 PM.

Burial will follow in Huttig Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
