James Jarvis Franklin Toney was the last born to the late Willie Lee Toney. Sr. and Odessa Toney on September 29, 1965. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member. Bethel A.M.E Church in Carthage, Arkansas under the leadership of the late Reverend Willie Toney, Jr. James grew up in Carthage and attended Carthage High School. He worked for several years in the logging industry.
In 1992, James married Victoria Lee Toney. They were married for thirty years before her passing in 2020. His hobbies included fishing. hunting and camping. One of his greatest joys was spending memorable moments with his family and friends. His family as well as friends will miss his strength, smile, and laughter. James was preceded in death by his wife Victoria Lee (Turner) Toney; his parents: Willie Lee Toney Sr.. and Odessa Toney; sister: Mary Louise(Toney) Erby; brothers: Rev. Willie Toney Jr., and Rev. Marvin Toney Sr; aunt: Eunice Cross; uncle: Hershel Roberson.
The memory of his life existence will forever be woven into the lives of those who were blessed to know him. He leaves behind five children: Tracie (Courtney) Rogers of Fordyce, AR, Ronald Turner (special friend Stacy Jackson) of Fordyce, AR, Tiffany Toney of Louisana, Tia Toney of Louisana, and Chelsea Broughton (special friend Damion Thomas) of Fordyce; AR, four grandchildren - Skyler Smith, Kai Turner. Jermyria Robinson and Ja'Marcion Bonapart; brothers: Wayne (Suzette) Toney' Bishop Jeffery (Shirley) Toney both Of Carthage, AR, Charles (Lisa) Toney of Bearden, AR; Sister: Dessie Johnson of Carthage, AR, Dessie (David) Bradford of Mayflower, AR and Regina (Jessie) Thompson of Malvern, AR, He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins: friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Greenville First Baptist Church in Fordyce, AR.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 4 until 6 at the church.
Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Carthage, AR under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
