Gloria Jean Ward

Gloria Jean Ward was born on September 26, 1950, to the late Charlie and Marie Boston-Ward in Marion, LA.  She departed this life on Thursday, February 28, 2019, quietly at home, surrounded by loved ones.

Gloria was a member of the Marion Baptist Church in Marion, LA. She graduated from Eastside High School in 1968. She was a homemaker and in her younger years she worked in the health care professional and earned a degree as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She adopted two of her grandchildren, Chasity Smith-Hawkins and Zoey Ward. Gloria loved shopping cooking and going to church. She loved her family and she will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years: Herschel Ward; One child: James Smith, Jr.; her parents: Charlie and Marie Ward; Seven siblings: Naomi Boyette, Eddie Page, Maxine Martin, Charles Ward, Willie Ed Ward, Annie Marie Ward and Oliver Ward.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Two daughters: Andrea Smith of Marion, LA and Alicia Ward of Mandeville, LA; Two brothers: Morris Page of Houston, TX and Leon Ward of Farmerville, LA; One sister: Florence Ward-Field of Monroe, LA; four grandchildren: LaToya Webb (Andre) of Crossett, AR, Chasity Hawkins (Paul) of Crossett, AR, Brandon Smith (Tiffany) of Dallas, TX and Zoey Ward of Crossett, AR; Seven great-grandchildren: Xavier, Netagee, Ava, Brandon, Jr., Maya, Dregan and Aiden. She also left a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 11:00 AM at the Marion Baptist Church in Marion, LA.

Visitation will be held from 12 until 5 at the chapel on Friday, March 8, 2019. 

Burial will follow in the Marion Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
