On September 6, 1953, in Dumas, Arkansas, a baby girl, Dorothy Collins, was born to the late James and Talmadge Collins. She and her sister, Doris Collins, were the fifth-born of nine children born to this union.
Dorothy's family relocated to Crossett, Arkansas, where she accepted Christ at an early age at New Bethel Missionary Church Under the leadership of the late B.J. Jackson, Dorothy attended Crossett Elementary as a youth and graduated from Crossett High School. On April 4, 2005, Dorothy married the late Theodis Savage. Sister Dorothy was a loving mother to two children. She was employed by several entities, the last of which was One Hour Martinizing. "Lady Bug," as she was affectionately known, loved shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Sister Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, James and
Talmadge Collins; her husband, Theodis Savage; one brother, Larry Collins; and three sisters, Reedell Smith Foots, Bulia Turner, and Doris Collins; and her daughter, Janett Franklin. Sister Dorothy departed this life on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Stephanie (Terry)
McDaniel of Prosper, TX; her son, Clyde Franklin of Brighton, CO; her sister, Mattie Sowers; and her three brothers, Ricky Collins, Danny Collins (Gwen), and James Collins; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Hunters Chapel Baptist Church in Crossett, AR.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the chapel.
Burial will follow in the Quinn Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
