Cheri Newton

Cheri Newton of Strong, AR was born on June 22, 1965, in Strong, AR to the late Moses Jack Newton and Ossie B. Williams. She departed this life on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at her residence surrounded by loved ones.

Cheri was an outgoing, warm, and loving person. She embraced and was embraced by many people along her short life’s way. She loved life. She attended Gardner High School in Strong, AR. Cheri attended Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age and later moved her membership to Curry Chapel AME Church where she remained until her death.

She was preceded in death by her daughter: Jurdisha Betters, her parents, her brothers: Robert Earl and Keith Greer; and sisters: Earlene Robinson and Virginia Henry

Her loving and fond memories will be cherished by her sons: Kenneth Newton and Curtis Smith both of Strong, AR’ grandchildren: Ki Jalin Newton, Cornelius Betters, Tamirah Shaw, Kamuri Briggs, and Kaylei Rowland; Brothers: Ray Charles, Terry Newton, Gerald Newton and Charles Newton of California; sisters: Jeanie Newton, Patricia Newton, Sharon Newton, Veronica Newton and Janell Jessie Henry all of California; Lillie M Newton of Chicago, IL, Gloria Newton of Pine Bluff, AR, Jacqueline Newton of Strong, AR and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Strong, AR

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 11 until 5 at the chapel of Mitchell Memorial.
