Mother Ora (Peggy) Harper was born on October 23, 1937 in Bearden AR to the late Marshall and Mittie Scott. She was granted her angel wings on April 16, 2018 at the Arbor Oaks Health and Rehab in Malvern, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: William Moore, Johnny Bradley, Samuel Scott, Mitchell Scott and Paul Scott; three sisters: Geneva Thrasher, Florene Coleman and Edna Grisby.
In 1958 She married Hersel L. Roberson and to this union two children was born. In October 1988 she married Clemmie Harper and she lovingly took care of him until his death.
Ora Harper was a person you instantly fell in love with. Her smile was infectious, and she had a way to make everyone in her presence feel special. She never met a stranger, calling many her “sons and daughters”. She was well known for her love and acceptance of others. She always had open arms available to those in need of understanding and support. In many ways she offered great balance of love to everyone who crossed her path.
She was very grateful to her sister/cousin Minnie Craig while she was sick. She was a member of the Bread of Life Ministry, serving as the mother of her church, Sunday School Teacher, leading prayer warrior and served as a minister of helps at the Church food bank. Many will miss her greetings of love and kindness.
She leaves to cherish her memories: One daughter: Mitzy (Kenneth) Hill of Fordyce, AR, one son: James Matlock of Las Angeles, CA, three sisters: Magaline Wallace and Helen White of Las Angeles, CA and Rossie Ritch of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren: Billy, Dimitri, Waylon, Lashawn, Earnest and James, Jr.; step children: Travis (Denice) Harper and Cecilia Harper of Las Vegas, NV.
Suga Moma will be missed by her other children she raised as her own: Norman, Ebonie, Keiana, Lamonda and numerous other children, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday April 21, 2018 at the New Macedonia AME Church in Bearden, AR.
Viewing will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 9:00 until service time.
Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service.
