Leonard Wade Obituary
Deacon Leonard Lamont “Sonny Boy” Wade, was born on December 23, 1944 in Columbia, La. to the late Cast and Bernice Powell. He departed this life on November 10, 2018 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, La.
Leonard accepted Jesus Christ into his life as his personal savior at an early age at St. Peter Baptist Church in Columbia, La. He was known as “Sonny Boy” to those who knew and loved him.
Leonard married Sing Eggins Wade, whom preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his parents: Cast and Bernice Powell, one sister: Ruby L. Sampson, three brothers: Cast Powell Jr., Wilbert J. Wade, and John Powell.
He leaves to cherish his memories; two sisters: Linda Powell of Winnsboro, LA and Earline Eggins of Grayson, LA, one brother: Henry (Katie) Davis of St. Louis, MO, one daughter: Shonita “Nikki” Butler of Dallas, TX, two grandsons, Dennis (JaQuicia) Tatum and Darcey (Kateal) Eggins of Monroe, LA, two granddaughters: Chancey Eggins of Texas and Genesis “Yanna” Butler of Dallas, TX and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Brownsville Baptist Church in Columbia, LA.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 at the church and also from 10 until service time.
Burial will follow in the St Paul Cemetery in Columbia, LA under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
