Lawrence Ridgell Obituary

Brother Lawrence Ridgell was born to Leander and Beadie Ridgell on May 18, 1935, in Strong, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Curtis Hillard, two brothers: Booker T and Roy Lee Ridgell, one daughter: Lisa Ridgell, three grandchildren: LaQuita Avery, Anthony Davis, and Darrell Gilbert, Jr.

Brother Ridgell was raised in Spearsville, LA and at an early age, he was baptized and united with Countyline Baptist Church in Spearsville, LA.

In his adult years, Brother Ridgell moved to Crossett Arkansas. There he gained employment with Georgia-Pacific Plywood where he later retired in 1997.

While living in Crossett he met and married Sister Adline Lemon on April 25, 1976. Brother Ridgell loved his family. He enjoyed family gatherings and working in his yard. He was a giving person, who gave knowledge to the younger generation. Mr. Ridgell was a hard-working man who provided well for his family.

On Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at the St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas Brother Ridgell gave this world a farewell.

Cherishing his memories;His wife: Adline Ridgell of Crossett, AR; children: Gladys (Curt) Richards of Farmerville, LA, Shirley (Gary) Shelton of Wilmot, AR, Gwen Ridgell of Spearsville, LA, Glenda (Bruce) Elliott of Clarksdale, MS. Julia (Andrew) Downs of Monticello AR, Linda Gilbert and Brenda (Kenneth) Burns both of Crossett AR; a grandchild that he raised: Antwonne ( Patricia) Allen of Atlanta, GA; Siblings Henry (Leslie) Ridgell of Lompoc, CA, Malachi (Doris) Ridgell of Spearsville, LA, Felton (Joyce) Ridgell of Carrollton, TX, Osie Garland of Detroit MI Ora B. Garrett of  Santa Barbara, CA, Julie Johnikin of  Milwaukee, WI, and  Marie Garrett of Santa Barbara, CA. a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 12, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Crossett, AR.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2019, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the chapel.

Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
