Mr. Archie Lee Dixon, fondly known as “Teddy” by family and friends was born, July 27, 1963 in Strong, Arkansas to Clarence Lee Dixon and Inelma Dixon. He was the eldest of four children, Jerome, Erica and Demetric.
Archie was raised in Strong, Arkansas and attended Strong School District. At an early age he united with the Curry Chapel AME Church Family where he served on the Usher Board. He was well known in the community with a charismatic personality, a caring spirit, loving heart and the SWAG of Teddy Pendergrass which gained him the nickname “Teddy.”
As a man who was not afraid of hard work, he was employed by Antony Forest for twenty-plus years, later he sought employment with Cross Oil where he was currently employed. As entrepreneur, he was a “jack-of-All-Trade”. He could be found under the hood of a car, on top of house or pulling the infamous “TEDDY’S” Grill. The grill was just no ordinary grill, it was a restaurant on wheels where your taste buds were always “beef-a-fide, smoke-A-Fide or Taste-A-Fide.”
In 1984, Teddy married his high school sweetheart, in his words, his “SweetThang, Deneen Furlow”. To this union they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Victoria and Candace; whom he loved tremendously.
He transitioned on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in El Dorado. Teddy was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Teddy’s fond and loving memories will be cherished by two daughters, Victoria Dixon and Candace Dixon both of Strong, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Makaylin, Jamarion, London, Carson and Cason; his mother, Inelma Dixon of Strong; three siblings, Jerome Dixon and Demetric Dixon both of Strong and sister, Erica Dixon of Smackover, Arkansas; two special nephews, Austin Daniel and Lorenzo Dixon; one special niece, Justian “Pinky” ; along with a host of relatives and close friends who loved him dearly.
Funeral will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Curry Chapel AME Church in Strong, AR
Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Strong, AR under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
