Bro. Paul Steward was born April 10, 1943 in Junction City, Arkansas to Albert Williams and Alice Steward. He departed this life on January 31, 2017 at Reeves Memorial Medical Center in Bernice, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one brother who died at birth, and one sister, Ruth Martin.
Bro. Paul confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. After returning to El Dorado, he united with the New Bethel Baptist Church. He served as an usher and was faithful to the Laymen ministry until his health failed him.
He attended high school in Junction City, Arkansas and Booker T. Washington in El Dorado, Arkansas. He graduated from West Side High School in Lillie, Louisiana. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country for 20 years. While there he received several ribbons, awards and medals.
HE LEAVES TO CHERISH HIS MEMORIES:
Two Sons: DeWayne and Jermaine Steward of Sierra Vista, Arizona.
Two Brothers: Gene Godfrey (Carolyn) of Orlando, Florida and Lavell Martin (Deniece) of Dunfries, Virginia.
Five Sisters: Winifred Tubbs (Bobby), Robertine Smart, Sammie Easter (Sampson), Wanda Sheppard and Augustine Fifer, all of El Dorado, Arkansas.
A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Monday February 6, 2017 at 11:00AM at New Bethel Baptist Church in El Dorado, AR. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Junction City, Arkansas under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
