Mamie Lee Smart 70 of Wisner, La, departed this life on August 6, 2015 at her residence. She was born on March 16, 1945 in Wisner, Louisiana to the late James and Lucy Smart. She was preceded in death by her mother, her father, and daughter Carla Smart.

Mamie was a student at the Wisner-Gilbert High school.

Mamie dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Holly Grove Baptist Church of Wisner, Louisiana. She remained a faithful member until her homegoing. She was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church Choir, The Willing Workers, and the Prayer Warriors for many years.

Mamie had many loves, but her love of the Lord Jesus, crocheting, quilting, her coffee, and her daily phone conversations were her favorites. She never met a stranger and would always lend a helping hand to all in need. She also loved being a mother and a grandmother.

Mamie leaves to cherish her memories, 3 children: Patricia Smart, Carolyn Spann (Ellis) both of Wisner, Louisiana and Jennifer Smart of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, One sister: Berneice Boyd of Chicago, Illinois. 4 grandchildren: James (Keisha) Smart of Winnsboro, Louisiana, Teresa Smart of Monroe, Louisiana, Jasmine Smart both of Houston, Texas, and Ellis Spann Jr. of Wisner, Louisiana. One special grandchild: Shatrica Brass of Monroe, Louisiana,   4 great-grandchildren: Latavia, Ky’Shawn, Sasha and Malia, 3 special great-grandchildren: Quneissanna,Jimmy,Jermiah. 2 special nieces: Shannon Aurthur, and Ventura Boyd. 2 special nephews, Fredrick Boyd and Fredrick Boyd II, also a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 13, 2015, at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Wisner, LA. Visitation will be held from 9:00 until service time at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
