    Herschel Ward was born to the late Arizona and James Ward on January 4, 1935 in Strong, AR.  He received his wing on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in Little Rock, AR
    Herschel was a true Christian and he accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. His faith was unshaken and he believed in the power of prayer. Herschell was a hard working man who enjoyed the ministry, and enjoyed reading and teaching the bible. At any situation Herschel could give you a scripture and make things alright. Herschel retired from Georgia Pacific Paper Mill after 34 years in 2000. He will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He was a member of Mount Olive Deer Camp. He loved people and he never met a stranger because he loved to talk.     
    He united in Holy Matrimony to Gloria Ward on December 28, 1976 and remained married until he resigned this life into the hands of the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arizona and James Ward; one son, James Smith, Jr.; three brothers, Lafayette Meeks, James Ward and Eolus Ward; Four sister, Reba Green, Helen Ward, Faye Ward, and Janice Ward. 
He leaves to cherish his memories: 

His wife of 40 yrs, Gloria Ward of Crossett, AR, Two sons: Derrick Ward and Barry Ward both of Las Vegas, Nevada; Seven daughters: Latonya Redman of Las Vegas, Nevada, Vicki Williams, LaToya Webb (Andre), Chasity Hawkins (Paul) and Zoey Ward all of Crossett, AR, Andrea Smith of Marion, LA and  Alicia Ward of Little Rock, AR  One sister: Laverne Ward Lawson of Tulsa, OK; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relative and friends.                                                                                  

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 1:00 Pm at the Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church in Crossett, AR.                                  

Visitation will be Friday, June 2, 2017 from 11 until 7 at the chapel of Mitchell Memorial.                                                                                                              

Burial will follow in the Ward Chapel Cemetery in Strong, AR under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
