Edgar Lee Jones of Crossett, AR was born on July 12, 1933 in Marianna Arkansas to Willie Ella Mathis of Jacksonville and the late LeRoy Porter of Kansas City. He departed this life Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett, AR. He worked for the Plywood Mill in Crossett, AR for many years.

He was preceded in death by His father: LeRoy Porter, Four sisters; Lenia Mae Kills, Teddie Mae Hamphrey, Emma Lee Boone and Martha Posley all of New York, Two brothers; John Harris and Oscie B. Locker both of New York, and One child; Diana Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memories: His mother; Willie Ella Mathis, Three sisters; Berthy Jones, Shirley Jeans (Moses) Kelly and Dinna (Nathan) Sanders all of New York, One Brother; Vertee Porter of Kansas City, Four children; Eddie Lee Jones of Hamburg, AR, Willie L. Jones of Parkdale, AR, Edd (Ladonna) Jones of Monticello, AR, and Ethel Lee Jones of Wilmot, AR, Nineteen grandchildren, Twenty-eight great grandchildren, One great great grandchild, His special friend; Tina Ellen , Two close friends; Slim and Joseph, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, September 8, 2017 from 11 to 7 at Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service in Crossett, AR.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the chapel of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service in Crossett, AR.

Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR
