Sister Arstella Starling was born on March 19, 1930 in Lawson Arkansas to Jim and Annie Pumphrey. She departed this life on September 18, 2016 at the Pinewood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett, Arkansas.
She accepted Christ at an early age. After she moved back to Crossett she united with Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church. Afterward she met and married Deacon Fred Starling. She served in the choir and the usher board until her heath failed.
Although Stella had no children of her own she was a mother to many. She was a homemaker and worked for the late Dr. Don Toon and his wife Nancy until her health failed but remained friends with Mrs. Toon.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Starling, her mother Annie Littleton, her father Jim Pumphrey, one step-son Jesse Starling, Two brothers Ollie B. Bowman and L.C. Pumphrey, two sisters Jrylean McQuay, and Almetha Blake, and one sister in law Mary Pumphrey.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful spirit: A step-son Elder Freddie Starling(Vivian) of Burlington IA, a devoted brother Matthew Bowman(Mary) of Crossett, AR, One sister-in-law, Joann Bowman of Fort Wayne, IN, One Brother-in-law Nathaniel Blake of Crossett, AR, A special niece Earlene Hollins of Crossett, AR and her daughters Tonya Brown and Taffany Hampton of Crossett, AR, one play daughter, Helen Brown. Many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that she loved and loved her
Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service chapel. Burial will follow in the Siloam Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, Arkansas.
