Alice Jeanette Waters was born on February 5, 1938 in Huttig, Arkansas to the late A.G. and Selma Waters. She departed this life on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 6:19 a.m. at the John R. Williamson Hospice House (Lifetouch) in El Dorado, Arkansas.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Marshall Jones, Jr., on August 27, 1953, and to this union two sons were born, Roger O’Neal and Michael Ray Jones. Roger and her husband, Marshal (Little Brother) of thirty-nine years, and grandson Roderick O’Neal Jones preceded her in death.

Alice professed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor B.J. Jackson and remained a member until death. She received her education at the Ashley Training School prior to the establishment of T.W. Daniels School. She was a dedicated housewife and mother. She was very passionate about reading, working crossword puzzles from the daily newspaper, and canning vegetables. After the passing of her husband, she enjoyed spending time working in her yard planting flowers, planting vegetables gardens, and mowing the acreage around her home on the riding lawn mower. She touched many lives in the course of her lifetime.

She leaves to cherish her memories: One son, Michael Ray Jones (Crossett, AR); one granddaughter, Jasmine Jones (Crossett, AR); four great-grand children, Kayden Carter and Collin Jones (Evanston, IL), LaQuinne Jones and Jalen Jones (Crossett, AR), three sisters, Beauty Mae Phifer (Richmond, CA), Betty Jean Jackson (Las Vegas, NV) and Erma Jean (Bobby) Mixon (Fairfield, CA); two brothers, Joe Louis (Eodies) Waters (Vacaville, CA) and Raymond Louis Waters (Crossett, AR); Special Cousins, Clarence Steel and Marlva Burns; Special neighbors, Roy Curtis, Cynthia Childs, and Marilyn Woods; Special Friends, Betty Jo Smith, Shirley Ford, and Evora Knuckles (Deceased) and other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. at the New Bethel Baptist Church of Crossett, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 12 until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, Arkansas.
